With the rescue of a sweet Boston Terrier named Angus, our founder decided to create a plush doll of Angus as a birthday gift.
Operating under the tradename "Wugadogs," we started to sell them online & donated the first batch of 300 to the Women's and Children's Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
The name was changed to "Pibborafi" and incorporated as a company which designed palm-sized plush after people's rescued dogs. Owners got twelve free. Thirty percent of net proceeds went to the rescues the owners chose.
After several years supporting rescue communities and creating the Pibborafi Rescue Hero plushies designed after people's real rescued dogs, the company slowed down production to focus on deeper support of rescues and to explore new ways to spread the mission.
What started as a few posts of plushies, evolved into a platform that told the story of rescue-families and their pups moment by moment. As we move forward, the story continues to be told.
